Mmm… Steak
This is an interesting article that gives a few tips on how to vastly improve your steaks at home. The basic premise is that rubbing salt all over your steak and leaving it on the counter for an hour will break down the proteins inside the meat. Afterwards you rinse off the excess salt. This allows the meat to become juicier and more tender. I believe that this will also allow any seasonings you add to be absorbed deeper into your deliciously cow flesh.
I will probably be giving this a shot sometime this week. It’s hard to turn down a good steak, especially one that was covered in salt.
I understand that this method will cause chaos, confusion and controversy in your household. But I encourage you to experiment — try adding spices, crushed garlic and rosemary sprigs to the salt, which will then act like Christina Aguilera dragging its entourage of flavors with it into the meat.
If confusion in the household becomes unbearable, just whack’em with the hunk of salty meat.
