SR388 - The Metroid Planet
Well, I’m mad at all of you for not telling me about a post on Digg. I heard all about the Top 10 with the Battlestar Galactica cast, the in-game Rock Band music store and how Jack Thompson is being sanctioned by a Florida court. But no one decided to mention that there is a totally awesome Metroid II remake being made. The original game (for the Gameboy) was incredible; it is easily the best Gameboy game I’ve ever played.
DoctorM64 is a sound technician living in Buenos Aires. He has found time over the last few years to create a remake of this great game. It is heavily influenced by Metroid: Zero Mission applying those great advanced backwards on a fantastic and important part of the Metroid timeline. The tech demo can be found here and I encourage everyone to play it, even at work. He is also posting about the development of the title on his game blog. Yeah, it’s amazing. I’m still surprised you guys didn’t tell me about it though.
This reminds me of another great remake project. The late great Chrono Trigger: Resurrection. Thanks for reminding me of the sadness I felt when this project died Derek. It felt good to reminisce. Here is a link to a video of Chrono Trigger: Resurrection.
