I thought it would be a bit cooler here in Norman now that I’m back from the sweltering death that is Houston. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed myself; it’s just more that a little hot there. We posted up at a number of places. My favorite was the Houston Dynamo game. We did a bit of tailgating before and after the game. There was beer, burgers and hot dogs. It was pretty fun. We went into the game and it was a blowout. The Columbus Crew didn’t have a prayer against the mighty Dynamo. I’m pretty sure my beloved Reds would stomp them into the ground though.
That wasn’t the only event on our itinerary though. Before the game we went to the St. Arnold Brewery for a brewery tour. There were several hundred people there and we were all thirsty for sweet refreshing beer. It was a mild 105+ degrees in the brewery and public sweatiness was the norm. We didn’t come as prepared as some of the veterans of the brewery tour though. Those bitches has sandwiches!
Continuing with my time-reversed portrayal of my Houston trip we ended the night before the Dynamo game by going to a super-awesome Ume concert. The first thing that you should know about Ume is that they do not fuck around. They are quite the sight to see. It will rock your sensibilities to the core seeing the smallest and cutest girl in the world smashing your brain with pure liquid rock. She has killer legs too. Whee!

We visited the Houston Aquarium. It was both awesome and air conditioned, a double plus. There were lots of critters there. We made friends with a sting ray we named Vernon. I’m pretty sure he wanted to drink my blood. Tara promised me that he was just trying to jump on me so I could take him home, not to drink my blood. There are two white tigers at the aquarium “because tigers like to play in the water”. They were very pretty and VERY big. There is also a tunnel-shaped aquarium that is filled with sharks. It was a pretty sweet facility.
During the hottest and most impressively disgusting day I have had the honor of experiencing in a very long time we went to Space Center Houston. Shit, it was hot outside. We went because of the (seemingly) awesome Star Wars exhibit. The video makes it seem FUCKING AWESOME. It is, in fact, not FUCKING AWESOME. Not even close. Not even one bit. This video shows every single bit of the exhibit. Now you don’t have to go, lucky you.
We did take the tour of the Space Center. It was ok, but with the heat it was probably not the best idea. We had to wait in line for quite a while in the blazing heat. It was lovely, look at the pictures. You can tell how much fun Lulu and Tay Tay are having. The Saturn V rocket exhibit is crazy awesome. You open the door and BAM! that thing is all in your face. It’s an experience. Lulu also had some astronaut ice cream, it made my mouth taste like sludge.
Finally we spent the first night eating and drinking. We posted up at the pool and set to drinking. Fun was had.
Thanks again for letting us post up with you Tara. We’ll have to do it again sometime.
This is one of the best skits that SNL ever did. It’s about Philip, a kid who wears a helmet, a harness and is both hypoglycemic and hyperactive. He’s a hyper hypo. Apparently there is another Philip skit with Kim Basinger. It’s not as good as the first one though. I read it, I should know. Interestingly, there is a list of short-lived recurring characters from SNL on the Wikipedias. Go figure.
Wow, you’re surrounded by a lot of positive support.
Earlier I posted about Dattebayo was halting all fan subs. It would have helped if I read the date on the article. The article is dated 2007/12/27 and that made me oh…. 6 months late. /headdesk
Woah. WOAH! Hold on now! They’re taking away my Bleach and I’m not sure I can handle that emotionally.
I can understand their reasons though. They want to remain obscure so the big corporations don’t bring down the hammer on fansubs in general. People have been taking Dattebayo’s (the main Bleach and Naruto fansub group) work and publishing it on the Youtubes. That’s fine, I guess. They’d better get back to work soon though or I’ll write an angry letter to my senator.
Which is why Dattebayo has decided that we will put a hold on all our subtitled episode releases until the uploaders comply. We’ve been way too nice so far by letting this issue slide, but this is the end. Here’s our (repeated) request to everyone who butchers our work by uploading it to streaming sites. STOP. If you’re an uploader, please DO NOT UPLOAD DATTEBAYO SUBS to any more streaming sites. If you’re guilty of doing this in the past, and your streaming site account is still valid, GO AND DELETE ALL THE DATTEBAYO VIDEOS WHICH BELONG TO YOUR ACCOUNT. We NEVER gave ANYONE permission to upload our work to ANY STREAMING SITE. If you’re not an uploader and want to help, flag our work you find on streaming sites as copyright infringement, send private message to uploader asking to remove content, etc. This is probably futile due to immense amount of idiots who are unable to read yet are able to figure out how to click “upload” button, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
Last night I was channel surfing and found a few new channels that weren’t there before. These include LifetimeHD, Weather Channel HD, BravoHD, CNBC HD, USA HD and SciFi Channel HD. They say “coming may 20th” on the screen. This is wonderful news! Now I can watch Battlestar Galactica in crisp and delicious HD.
Awesome, BSG in HD better have cut off corners.

In other Battlestar news I found this 7 foot tall Cylon Centurion Figure and it is completely awesome. I fully expect to see it at Jake’s house watching over his bedroom.
A Bleach Musical!? A Bleach Musical!? Awesome! You’ve got to be fucking kidding me though! Now, I know a few of you haven’t seen Bleach so this might seem dumb, but give me a second to explain this. The first video is the beginning of Ichigo’s fight with Ikkaku. Watch both of these videos and you’ll see what’s going on. I just wish that people loved television shows as much here as they do in Japan. Can you imagine a Firefly stage musical!? IT’D BE FUCKING AWESOME!
Here is the links for the musical in fifteen 9 minute parts with subtitles, you lucky dogs.
Jake sent me a link to a video of a Asian orchestra playing Smoke on the Water all Asian-like. Admittedly I did not watch the whole thing because I’m not a big Deep Purple fan. It is worth watching at least for the first minute or so though.
A gay boy wished for a planet full of unicorns, Planet Unicorn! Unicorn Planet! Give it up for Feathers! Oooooooooh, Cadillac! And Tom Cruise! Oooooh, Planet Unicorn, hey!
